Columns

Monumental stone columns fabricated to exact project drawings — from classical orders to entirely bespoke designs, at any scale.

Every column begins with your CAD drawing and ends as a permanent statement in stone — engineered for the scale and gravity of landmark architecture.

Metamar's Atelier specialises in the fabrication of natural stone columns for landmark commercial, hospitality, governmental, and residential projects. Whether you are specifying a classical Corinthian colonnade for a palace entrance, a series of monolithic smooth-shaft columns for a contemporary hotel lobby, or a mosque's colonnaded prayer hall, our team works directly from your project drawings to deliver the exact result.

Columns are fabricated across our three manufacturing facilities in Turkey, drawing on 36 years of expertise in precision stone work. Solid monolithic shafts and drum-assembled columns are both available, with full CNC turning and hand-finishing to achieve the required profile, entasis, and surface quality.

Column Types & Configurations

01
Monolithic Columns

Single-piece solid stone columns turned from a single block. Available in diameters up to 600 mm and heights up to 4 m depending on stone type. Preferred where material continuity across the full shaft is paramount.

02
Drum-Assembled Columns

Stacked cylindrical drums with precision-fitted joints — the classical method for exterior colonnade and portico applications. Allows greater height flexibility and seamless structural integration with the building.

03
Classical Orders

Full fabrication to the five classical orders: Doric, Ionic, Corinthian, Composite, and Tuscan. Entasis — the subtle curvature of a classical shaft — executed with CNC precision to the specified taper ratio.

04
Fluted Columns

Concave and convex fluting executed by CNC router to exact depth and spacing. Standard 20-flute Corinthian profile or fully custom flute count and geometry as specified in your drawings.

05
Square & Rectangular Piers

Prismatic column shafts in square or rectangular cross-section, with or without chamfered or moulded edges. Standard for contemporary architecture and where structural integration requires a flat bearing face.

06
Engaged & Half-Columns

Columns designed to project from a wall surface by a half or three-quarter diameter. CNC-cut flat back with precise fit to the wall substrate. Ideal for facade articulation and grand interior dado applications.

From Drawing to Delivery

01
Consultation & Drawing Review

Our Atelier team reviews your architectural drawings and specifications. We advise on stone selection, structural dimensions, and finish options before any commitment is made.

02
Stone Selection & Sampling

Blocks are selected from quarry stock and matched for colour consistency across the full column set. Sample sections are provided for client approval before production begins.

03
CNC Fabrication & Hand Finishing

Shafts are turned on CNC lathes to ±1 mm tolerance. Fluting, entasis, and carved detail are executed by a combination of CNC routing and skilled hand-finishing by our craftsmen.

04
Quality Control & Delivery

Every column is measured, photographed, and inspected before packing. Phased delivery is coordinated with your site programme to ensure pieces arrive ready to install.
